The DR-550MKII combines the latest PCM sounds with a full 16-bit dynamic range for sounds that are truly convincing. From the snap of percussion, to the ring of cymbals to kick drums you can feel, the new DR-550MKII has all the attack and punch of a live rhythm section.

Choose from 91 dynamic instrument sounds or make your own.
91 definitive sounds were selected from the best DR-660 sounds, covering a basic drum set, jazz brushes, popular TR-808 sounds, Latin percussion, ethnic instruments and much more. For more variety, the DR-550MKII lets you edit as many as six parameters for each instrument so you have the flexibility to tailor sounds to complement any musical style, or create totally new ones.

12 Pads let you create the drum kits you want.
Any of the 91 preset sounds or sounds you've personalized can be assigned to 12 pads. The 12 pad assignments can be configured as a drum kit and stored into one of four Banks, giving you instant access to four custom Drum Kit setups.

Play complex pattems easily and create your own too.
The DR-550MKII contains 64 preset patterns that make full use of the internal sounds. The pattern styles are new, covering rock, jazz, Latin, FX and more. If you need others, the DR-550MKII stores an additional 64 custom patterns which you can program step by step or create in real time.

Rhythmically complex pattems that include triplets or 5/4, 7/8, 5/8 and other irregular time signatures are no problem. The large, easy-to-see LCD and convenient editing functions like Delete, Clear and Copy make pattern creation fast and easy. You can select up to 160 bars of your favorite patterns and then combine them into a song. Up to eight songs can be stored in the DR-550MKll's internal memory. You can use the Song Chain function to play rhythm tracks as long as 1,280 bars.

MIDI makes the DR-550MKII do more for you.
The DR-550MKII features a MIDI in connector so that you can synchronize it to an external sequencer, or use it as a sound module for MIDI instruments like a pad controller.

Save your rhythm performances.
A tape Save/Load Jack lets you store and retrieve patterns and songs using a cassette tape recorder.

Convenlent two-way power.
The versatile DR-550MKII operates on either battery or AC power using an optional AC adaptor.
