Akai Pro MX1000
76 Keys midi master keyboard
The MX1000 is a MIDI master keyboard for use on stage or in studio sessions. Use it as the system controller to control MIDI synthesizers and sound modules such as an Akai S-Series digital sampler, or play it like a digital piano with the optional PM76 Piano Sound Board installed.
The MX1000 features a 76-key piano-touch keyboard with dynamic velocity and after touch sensitivity that make subtle musical expression possible. Six velocity curves are preprogrammed, and you can program and store in memory up to eight more to suit your playing styles.
Programming modes are simply structured for flexibility and ease of use. The 76 keys can be divided into four key groups. The user can assign these groups parameters such as key range, MIDI channel and volume for controlling MIDI equipment. A set of four key groups comprises a program; up to 100 programs can be stored in memory. And programs can be arranged in any order to form a program-chain; up to four program-chains can be stored in memory. What's more, you can assign a custom name to each program, program-chain and MIDI channel.
A 40-character x 8-line back-lit LCD display facilitates programming with graphic indications, together with six programmable keys and two sets of numeric keys. Since you can play while programming data, you can correct and modify as you go.
There are more features to enhance versatility. The velocity key follower makes treble notes sound as loud as bass notes. Four independent MIDI outputs minimize time delay with respect to each other. There's a panic key for times when a malfunction prevents muting MIDI equipment. An optional IC memory card (BR-16) is available to save program data, while exclusive data may be stored in an external sequencer. The PM76 is a piano sound board for exclusive use with the MX1000. With the board installed, the MX1000 will produce ten timbers (piano sound included) created using Akai's digital sampling technology.
