"The synthesis system takes full advantage of the NS5R's large-scale PCM ROM.
The NS5R is equipped with KORG's AI-squared Synthesis System, the engine that drives KORG's professional synthesizers like the award winning 01/W and M1 Music Workstations. Its tone generation section employs high capacity PCM ROM featuring 12 Mbytes of waveform memory. In addition to all the pianos, organs, strings and other instrumental sounds you will ever need, a large assortment of high quality synth sounds and sound effects are also provided.

KORG's NS5R provides 1049 sound programs, 384 combinations and 32 drum programs in ROM memory. Since the NS5R provides full editing capabilities, 128 RAM program and 128 RAM combination locations are available to store your sound edits and combination set-ups.
Featuring full compatibility, plus and sound maps, the NS5R can playback virtually any type of commercially available music data.

The NS5R delivers much polyphony and multi-timbral capabilities while interfacing readily with computers and other instruments.
With 64-note polyphony and the ability to function as a 32 channel multi-timbral tone generator, the NS5R is ideally suited for sequencing with or without computer. The on-board computer interface makes it possible to connect the NS5R directly to a Macintosh or IBM PC (compatible) using a single cable (optional AG-00l/AG-002). And Line-in jacks allow the sounds of other instruments to be outputted together with the NS5R.

Dynamic digital multi-effects enhance the NS5R's sounds and provide customising control.
The NS5R is equipped with two completely independent, stereo, digital multi-effect processors. Both feature dynamic control and 47 different effects types including reverb, chorus, delay, distortion, rotary speaker.

A new high-visibility graphic display makes the most of the NS5R's user-friendly design.
The NS5R's new 144 x 40 dual colour (amber/yellow green), backlit full graphic custom LCD is easy to see in all environments, and makes it possible to visually display bar graphs, panning assignments, levels and more. The new display lets you make the most of the NS5R's intuitive user interface so you can spend more time making music.

Further expansion with Wave Blaster-compatible ""daughter-boards"".
The NS5R is equipped with a Wave Blaster-compatible card slot. WB-compatible boards offer the user the opportunity to increase the NS5R's polyphony up to 96 voices. In order to have a daughter-board installed, you should contact your authorized Korg dealer.
