Vermona Retroverb Vermona
Here is an absolutely delicacy for all who won't renounce for the inimitable sound of a real spring reverb. The RETROVERB combines the enchant of a classic spring reverb unit with components that you usually find in synthesizers. From that it has an immense flexibility and it's capable of creating a plentitude of different kind of effects, that you would not expect comming out from a spring reverb.
And in spite of that diversity it still has an simple and intuitive user interface: Each function has its own controller!

Spring Module

Heart of the Retroverb is an ACCUTRONICS spring module (about 40 mm long). These types were also used in Fender Amplifiers and Hammond Organs in the sixties.
The spring module has three springs, which are aligned in parallel way. Against, each of the springs consists of two springs with different lengths. Because of the resulting different running times, it produces a very diffuse reverbration effect.

Equalizer

The effect signal can be processed by the 2-band equalizer. Low and high frequencies can be raised or reduced at 15dB. The reverb effect can be decisively varied, already on this point of the signal flow.

VCF / VCA Section

This section includes a complete voltage controlled 12db lowpass filter and a VCA.
Here you can make the most drastic alterations of the effect. VCF as well as the VCA can be modulated by a common ATTACK-DECAY envelope generator. The CUTOFF frequency can also be affected by an external control voltage or an expression pedal.

There are different possibilities to trigger the envelope:
with a GATE signal (5V, positive)
with an audio trigger - that could be the signal from the main inputs or an extra audio signal
manually per footswitch
with an internal clock (REPEAT function)
If the REPEAT function is activated, the envelope generator can be used as a LFO with adjustable flanks via ATTACK- and DECAY knob.

The VCF / VCA section allows you to create effects you never thought are possible wirh a spring reverb. I.e. if you modulate the VCA with the repeated envelope, you'll get delay-like effects, you can vary the decay time of the reverb or make reversed hall effects with the VCA.
Using the VCF, the reverb sound can get darker or brighter, ...

More than a spring reverb unit

The Retroverb has modes which includes or excludes the spring module in the signal flow. By excluting the spring module, you can process the input signal from the equalizer and / or the VCF / VCA section. This allows you to use the Retroverb as a standalone filter for creating typical filtersweeps or tremolo effects.

CRASH

You surely know the noise which results from kicking a guitar amplifier with spring module.
The Retroverb can generate this effect simply by pushing a knob on the frontplate or trigger it via GATE or audio signal. So you even could synchronize this noise with your sequencer or drummachine!

Connecting Features

Besides all the typical audio in- and outputs, the Retroverb offers you a whole range of CV- and Gate inputs as well as footpedal connections for many functions.
