All the benefits of professional DJ mix and VJ mix software.
Simple plugin interface. There are no physical buttons on the E-Scratch device. All options and modes are selectable through the plugin interface and via the keyboard.
Hassle free operation, no damage to cartridges, needles or records.
E-Scratch is fully compatible with external midi controllers

E-Scratch is fully compatible with hardware mixers. No sound output is taken from the record decks line out, only taken from the sound card of your PC. This allows playback of original vinyl recordings through the phono outs of the record deck which can be fed to the phono line in’s of an external mixer. Only the E-Scratch AV Arm needs to be removed.
USB plug and play compatibility. No drivers are needed because the device is Windows H.I.D. compliant.
The E-Scratch hardware is stylish, easy to setup, and transport.

The E-Scratch device consists of two major parts, the E-Scratch Vinyl Record, and The E-Scratch AV (angular velocity) Arm.

The E-Scratch AV Arm encodes the angular velocity and direction of the E-Scratch Vinyl Record through direct contact. The E-Scratch Vinyl Record also has a special touch sensitive nature which allows for two different modes of operation; A fully controlled mode, “E-Scratch mode” and a touch sensitive mode, “T-Scratch Mode” these are covered in greater detail below.

E-Scratch delivers a maintenance free system. There is no need to replace cartridges or needles, and precious records will no longer become damaged from over enthusiastic scratching. E-Scratch reads the movement of the record directly and because there is no time-code or waveform machined into the record, playback of the digital audio is relative to the position of the mp3 and not to the position of the record. Thus, eliminating skips and jumps. An additional advantage of this system is that Atomixmp3 and Virtual DJ* allow the user to save a number of cue points within any track. These can be called at any time by simple keyboard taps, mouse clicks, or midi calls.

E-Scratch is a plug and play device and is simple to use. There are no physical buttons. All options and settings can be accessed and changed through the plugin interface and keyboard shortcuts.

FULLY CONTROLLED ANALOGUE MODE

“E-Scratch Mode”

In this mode playback of the audio file is completely handed over to your turntables. Scratching, looping, pitching, nudging and mixing in general is controlled by manipulation of the E-Scratch Vinyl Record. In this mode Djing (or Vjing), is just like using real vinyl but with the added benefit of being able to use all the dj mix software’s excellent features such as looping, timestretch pitching, cueing, nudging, and use of DSP effects, if one so wishes.

This mode is best suited to a setup including professional turntables.

TOUCH SENSITIVE MODE

“T- Scratch Mode”

In this mode the E-Scratch Vinyl Record is essentially stationary and the mixing desk is not rotating. Playback of the audio file is controlled by the dj mix software in the normal way. However, the track can be scratched or nudged using the E-Scratch Vinyl Record which has a special touch sensitive nature. When the record senses touch from the user, playback is handed over to the E-Scratch Vinyl Record allowing scratching or nudging. When the record no longer senses touch from the user playback is handed back to the software. However, if the user wishes, control can stay with the E-Scratch Vinyl Record by overriding the touch sensitive mechanism. This allows the user to perform techniques such as spin-back without having to keep constant user contact with the E-Scratch Vinyl Record.

Due to the touch sensitive nature of this mode professional mixing decks are not a necessity. Because playback stops as soon as the Vinyl Record is touched and resumes as soon as the record is released there is no need for expensive motors and torque issues of expensive mixing decks can be neglected.
