DigiScratch is the missing mosaic stone for working completely digital as a professional DJ. Thanks to DigiScratch the Vinyl-DJ is able to work with digital audio tracks in the same way as with analogical records without being restricted in creativity. In addition, he profits from numerous special components, which can be enabled by digital storage and reproduction of the tracks from the Laptop or PC. Among these you can find a comfortable track-display, a title archive, which can be freely set up and a direct-MP3-recorder for cutting each Live-Set by pushing a single button. DigiScratch smoothly integrates itself into the usual surroundings with turntables and mixers, but the tracks are running from the Laptop, PC or from the analogical record.
Extended information
The DigiScratch system consists of a DigiScratch-Box, two special DigiScratch-Records and the software module. A bundle together with the „BPM Studio Pro“ software, which is necessary for running the complete system, is also available.
DigiScratch can be used on each common standard IBM PC or Laptop with Windows® 2000 or XP. Complicated or unknown operating systems or PCs are not necessary.
DigiScratch uses special timecode records for controlling the play back of audiotracks from the hard drive. By moving the record forward, the play back of the audiotrack starts with the same speed. Pitching, scratching and starting the title is possible from any position.
The DigiScratch-Box connects all devices. It evaluates the timecode of the DigiScratch- Records, switches the signals between turntable, mixer and Laptop and is also responsible for the play back of digital audiotracks. Therefor, a multi-channel soundcard of very high quality is already integrated in the DigiScratch-Box. Changing the cables when playing usual analogical records instead of the DigiScratch-Record is not necessary.
Technically DigiScratch is an extension module for the professional MP3 DJ system „BPM Studio Professional“. Controlling both players A and B is not done by the 19“ remote control, but by standard turntables.
Which soundcard is necessary for DigiScratch?
DigiScratch does not need a soundcard since the DigiScratch-Box contains already a multi-channel soundcard, which is sufficient for all demands.
Why do I need special records?
The records manufactured especially for DigiScratch are necessary for mixing the digital audio data. Pitch shifting, cue pointing, spinning forward and backward, also scratching the tracks is possible unrestrictedly. Controlling the digital audio data is executed by the special code of the DigiScratch records. The records can be utilized together with usual vinyl LPs, but they only work together with ALCATECH`s DigiScratch software and DigiScratch-Box.
Can I record my set directly?
BPM Studio includes a Realtime Wave and MP3 recorder and allows a direct recording of the complete set. The integrated record module offers the possibility to write Audio or MP3 CDs.
How about the sound quality?
The sound quality depends on the quality of the original file. We know from experience that 128 kbps (better: 192 kbps) and a MP3 codec of high quality (e. g. the internal Frauenhofer codec of BPM Studio) are sufficient for club demands.
Can DigiScratch also execute automatic BPM adjustment?
No, DigiScratch has been developed for working with digital audio in the same way as with vinyl. For automatic BPM value determination and adjustment ALCATech`s BPM Studio products are the best choice. DigiScratch will be integrated in the „BPM Studio Pro 5“ software. To exhaust the full function range we recommend the use of an external ALCATECH remote control.
