VAZ Modular 3 is a modular software synthesizer building on the concept of the hardware analogue modular synthesizer. A vast range of analogue-style sounds are possible and also sounds based on many other digital forms of synthesis. Sound design can be both rapid and free-form thanks to the straightforward, immediate single layer design.

Over 90 different modules are available in VAZ Modular 3, including several different oscillators, filters, envelopes, LFOs, and more. New modules in VAZ Modular 3 include the Chaotic LFO which generates a set of 3 semi-periodic waveforms, most easily described as "wiggly", from either Lorenz or Rossler attractor algorithm. The Multistage Envelope module is a 16-step complex envelope generator and the Tempo LFO has it's waveform period set in terms of beats which can be locked to the tempo of a host sequencer. A synth patch in VAZ Modular 3 is built from a number of modules. It is simple and fast to add new modules to a patch with a couple of clicks. There is no need to switch to a hidden wiring layer to connect modules within the patch, inputs to a module are selected with just 2 clicks from a popup menu.
