Sounds created by Korg's critically acclaimed AI² Synthesis System can be heard on radio, TV and hit recordings around the world.
Korg's state-of-the-art PCM technology creates the tone generation section's brilliant sounds and provide 6 megabytes of waveform memory. The X2 has a total of 341 Multisounds, including the newly sampled piano, and the X3 features 340 Multisounds. Both instruments have a full selection of 164 drum sounds with a wide range of snare and bass drum variations. These exceptionally clear and dynamic sounds make ideal sonic building blocks, while the extensive VDF, VDA and effects sections give you the tools to create your own original sounds. Two powerful stereo dynamic digital multi-effect systems employing 47 types of effects including chorus, delay, overdrive, rotary speaker and more provide real-time effects control. Plus, you get full 32-note polyphony (in the Single Mode). Both the X2, with its new piano sound and 76-note keyboard, and the X3 make it exceptionally easy to create sophisticated music arrangements and fully orchestrated pieces.
With 200 programs, 200 combinations and 136 General MIDI programs - plus the ability to access an additional 200 programs and 200 combinations with the optional SRC-512 RAM card - the X2 and X3 are star performers.
The X-Series instruments have been created using the same technology and voicing that made the 01/W, Ml and T-Series Music Workstations so popular. The A and B banks of RAM memory provide 200 Programs and 200 Combinations; a backup disk for all Programs/Combinations is also included. All sounds are synthesized from high-quality PCM data to give the X2 and X3 unmatched sound creation capabilities. The program and PCM card slots are compatible with 03R/W card library and the SRC-512 RAM memory card can add an additional 200 Programs and 200 Combinations, totalling 400 Programs and 400 Combinations. The Edit mode of the X2 and X3 allows you to modify these Programs with precise detail. And the Play mode features real-time editing and effects control, giving you extensive sound-shaping capability even while playing on stage. The ROM memory gives the X-Series even greater flexibility, with its 128 General MID Programs, 1 GM drum Program and 7 original drum Programs.
Powerful 16 Track on-board sequencers provide advanced music production capabilities.
The X2 and X3's built-in 16-track sequencers offer 32,000 events of total memory enough for sophisticated, multi-part workstation pieces. Sequence data can be saved to 3.5" 2DD disks using the Standard MIDI File format which is compatible with many different sequencer software packages. Naturally, sequences can be recorded in real time or by using step entry. The X2 and X3 also feature pattern recording of up to 100 patterns; repeating musical phrases can be saved as one pattern for more efficient use of the sequencer memory. In the Sequence mode, the X2 and X3 can play up to 16 parts by controlling as many as 16 independent Programs. This makes them ideal multi-timbral sound sources for the on-board sequencer, external sequencers or computers. The X2's four independent outputs let you separate individual tracks and process each independently with external effects resulting in even greater control over the final sound.
Shape your performance environment with comprehensive, easy-to-use Global and Disk modes.
The X-Series' Global mode lets you adjust MIDI settings, fine tune an instrument pitch and more. There's even a special scale function that allows you to use different tunings. With 11 scales Including equal and pure temperaments, Werckmeister III, Kimberger III, Arabic and Indonesian creating authentic classical and ethnic music is simple. In the Disk mode you can save and load data with the built-in disk drive. This lets youeasily organise and store Global settings, Programs, Combinations and sequences to a 3.5" disk and recall them when needed completely and instantly reconfiguring your X2 and X3 for the desired application.
