PAiA Electronics FatMan

Available from 03/23/2005 until 11/30/1999
The FatMan has all of the features that give analog it's big bottom and punch in a MIDI controlled package. The classic Voltage Controlled normalization is brought up to date with a Velocity CV not available on pre-MIDI synths. Pitch wheel modulation is supported and Pitch and Velocity CVs and gate signal are provided on the front panel for driving PAiA or other linear response synthesizer modules.
Extended information
And all those knobs. They invite experimentation and invention in ways that a single control with functions buried under layers of obscure menus never can. Just a few hours with the FatMan will teach you more about the nature of sound than you might ever learn otherwise. It's as at home in the physics lab as on-stage.
Technical specifications
The FatMan synth includes a MIDI to Control Voltage circuit that converts Note On and Off messages to a Pitch CV, which set the frequency of the VCOs, and a Velocity CV that is routed to the VCF and VCA.
Pitch and Velocity CVs and a key-down Gate signal are available on RCA jacks on the front panel. Voltages are exponentially tapered to drive V/Hz response synth elements.
The AR/ASR switch allows the VCF's Envelope generator to gfenerate percussion or sustain transients. The Punch switch on the ADSR Envelope Generator adds a 20 ms. plateu to the attack peak to duplicate this characteristic of Mini-Moog transients.
