Access Music, the company behind the multiple award winning Virus TI series of synthesizers today released their new operating system OS4 (version 4.0.5.01). During an extensive public beta test phase over the last three month, the recently added algorithms were refined and improved even further.
A few months ago we brought you a story about the GForce Imposcar2 hardware controller that Mario Jurisch had built for GForce. Back then there were no plans for a production run. It would stay a ‘one off’ project. Mario, however, decided the built another controller just for himself. And this controller has reached near completion. Was the first version just a controller, Mario’s personal version has a keyboard section.

The Mopho Keyboard is a compact and affordable—but powerful—monophonic analog synthesizer. The voice architecture is similar to a single voice of the Prophet ’08, but with a couple of twists to distinguish it from its award-winning sibling. We have added two sub-octave generators—one per oscillator—for additional girth and crushing basses. It also has an audio input that lets you process external audio and mix Mopho’s own audio output back in pre-filter for feedback effects that can range from subtle distortion to extreme skronk. He is interested in the idea of new musical instruments that overcome the limitations of traditional mechanical instruments. His particular interest is in a new instrument that while capable of entirely new sounds and playing techniques, is also able to reproduce the sounds, virtuosic performance capabilities and subtleties that we’ve come to know and love from traditional musical instruments, but without all their problems and limitations.

Like we reported yesterday, Dave Smith Instruments today offically released the Mopho Keyboard. Like the original desktop version they kept the original color for the keyboard version, … bright yellow! The Mopho Keyboard is a monophonic synthesizer with an all-analog signal path, an expanded user interface, and a full-sized, semi-weighted keyboard action.
Dave Smith has started delivery of the new Mopho Keys. At the moment only within the US. We have contacted Dave for more information on European availability/pricing. The Mopho Keys has been listed at AudioMidi, Nova Musik, Analogue Haven, and Big City Music. In the video below (from AudioMidi.com) we can see that the Mopho kept his yellow finish, as there were talks if the Keys version would be available in black finish as well. If so?
