Roland Announces GAIA 2 Synthesizer

Roland introduces GAIA 2, an innovative synthesizer boasting an all-new hybrid sound engine and a user-friendly interface that promises an engaging journey into sound synthesis and design. With its blend of wavetable and virtual analog oscillators, interactive controls, and 37 full-size keys, GAIA 2 invites artists to explore a boundless realm of creative possibilities.

GAIA 2 empowers users to craft both familiar and unprecedented sounds. Its wavetable oscillator can fluidly transition between waveforms, offering dramatic shifts and evolving textures. Additional phase and shape modulation options enable waveform distortion, yielding intricate textures and rich overtones. Complementing this is the inclusion of twin virtual analog oscillators, adept at reimagining vintage tones or forging futuristic soundscapes.

The synthesizer is further enhanced with support for Roland Model Expansions, faithfully recreating iconic synthesizers from the company’s legacy. Instantly switch between the built-in sound engine and classics like the JUPITER-8 or JUNO-106 with the dedicated button. The SH-101 Model Expansion is pre-installed, and numerous other titles are available on Roland Cloud.

GAIA 2’s intuitive panel layout promotes hands-on exploration and creative discovery. A one-control-per-function arrangement and informative display facilitate immediate programming without cumbersome menu navigation. Its sleek design, featuring streamlined knobs and a white anodized aluminum panel, is aesthetically inspiring.

A touch-controlled Motional Pad breathes life into static sounds, allowing users to assign parameters and morph between them with finger movement. The built-in sequencer enables instant capture of inspiration, and a Random Pattern feature sparks spontaneous creativity.

Loaded with over 50 Roland effects and a dedicated Chorus section, GAIA 2 elevates sonic creations. It serves as an audio/MIDI interface via USB-C, simplifying connection to music production apps on computers and mobile devices.

Additionally, GAIA 2 offers Roland Cloud Connect, an optional wireless adapter for content browsing and downloading. Purchasing it includes a year of Roland Cloud Pro membership, granting access to thousands of sounds and Model Expansions.

To safeguard GAIA 2 during travel, an optional CB-B37 Keyboard Bag is available, suitable for multiple 37-note keyboards.

Roland’s GAIA 2 is now available in the U.S. for $899.99, inviting musicians to embark on a sonic adventure like never before.
