Eric Thoolen, co-founder of Gearjunkies and DJ2DJ passed away

Wednesday June 11th, Eric Thoolen, co-founder of Gearjunkies and DJ2DJ passed away at the age of 46 as a result of a cardiac arrest.

Eric suffered from a muscular disease that he could control for a long time. Still, 5 weeks ago complications arose, and as Eric said himself, his disease was catching up with him.

We will remember Eric for his enthusiasm and dedication for all he did for the websites. Apart from taking responsibilities for the looks of the sites, he was also committed in his role as editor, where he set out a strict publishing policy and inspired the rest of the team.

For both DJ2DJ and Gearjunkies, Eric has played an essential role in making them more succesfull than we thought was possible. His passing away shall be felt, he will be missed by the team both as a professional but maybe even more as a friend.

Our thoughts are with Eric’s family now, especially his parents and brother, supporting them with the loss of their beloved son and brother.

Novation Bass Station II and the New Sound of P-Funk

Danny Bedrosian has keyboards in the blood. Born into a family of piano teachers, he began lessons at three and a half years old and was classically trained from that point, until age 19. Along with playing lots of choir and gospel music in his pre-teens, he caught the jazz bug at age nine. “I always thought my talent could be applied to any music,” he states. “It’s about communicating and applying your energy to whatever music you’re playing.”
