Making Prodigy Voodoo People in Ableton Live
How to make Prodigy’s famous track “Voodoo People” in Ableton Live 8. The video describes, which samples were used by Liam Howlett while creating this legendary track. Jim Pavloff shows us how these samples are being treated and mangled with FX till they sound just as in the original Prodigy track. Good stuff!
PreSonus VSL Brings the StudioLive Under Computer Control
StudioLive mixer owners will be delighted to learn that they can control the most-used StudioLive parameters directly from a computer, thanks to PreSonus’ new VSL software for the StudioLive 16.4.2 and StudioLive 24.4.2 digital mixers. VSL(short for “Virtual StudioLive”) provides bidirectional control of channel, subgroup, and main-bus levels; Fat Channel parameters; aux mixes; effects; and the graphic EQ. You get a visual overview of your StudioLive settings so you can see, tweak, and organize them and can easily manage your presets and Scenes. The software will be available for Mac OS X and Windows in the first quarter of 2010 and will be a free download.
Korg KAOSSILATOR Pro – Video
Korg announced the KAOSSILATOR PRO at the NAMM. It is a supercharged version of the palm-sized KAOSSILATOR, reborn as a powerful track-making tool and loaded with live performance power. Ableton Suite 8 – A Gearjunkies Review
Ableton Live, from a simple sequencer to a serious Digital Audio Workstation. Ableton Live 8 Suite, also known as the XL version, is the version of Live that comes with a huge amount of instruments and library of sounds. About no less then 1600 sounds divided among ten instruments. The GUI (graphic user interface) stands out against the GUI’s of the other well known DAW’s by its simplicity. Which in fact works easier and better.

A Vestax controller for Traktor?
At the NAMM Vestax introduced a new USB MIDI and AUDIO Controller called TYPHOON. It is an all-in-one bundle of digital DJ hardware and software, offering total control to mix, scratch, and play music as a DJ would right at your fingertips. According to some opinions on the internet the TYPHOON controller is intended for Traktor, just like the SPIN controller is for DJAY Software.
PreSonus Unveils StudioLive 24.4.2 Digital Mixer
Following up on the runaway success of its StudioLive 16.4.2 digital mixer, PreSonus announced a new member of the family: the StudioLive 24.4.2. Like its 16-channel sibling, the 24-channel StudioLive 24.4.2 is designed for both studio recording and live sound, without compromising the requirements for either.
StudioLive 24.4.2 sports the same friendly user interface, robust feature set, and extensive I/O configuration as the StudioLive 16.4.2 but with several significant additions and enhancements. The most obvious difference is that the new mixer provides 24 input channels, rather than 16. As with the 16.4.2, each input features a trim pot, XLR mic input with XMAX™ mic preamp, 1/4-inch TRS balanced line inputs and unbalanced insert points. Like the 16.4.2, the StudioLive 24.4.2 offers 4 subgroup outputs, but where the 16-channel model offers 6 aux buses, the 24.4.2 provides 10 aux buses.
