Sony announces the Oxford Limiter

Sony Oxford have announced the arrival of their newest plug-in, The Oxford Limiter, to the ever growing line of high-end plug-in processors.

The Oxford Limiter is a very high quality programme limiter, which uses logarithmic side chain processing with innovative adaptive timing functionality, using look ahead techniques. Whether seeking general transparent level control, programme loudness maximisation or heavily applied artistic effects, the Oxford Limiter provides outstanding flexibility and world class performance.

The unique ‘Enhance’ function gives volume and punch to material beyond that available from conventional limiting functions, without over-loading. Comprehensive metering is provided which displays not only conventional peak sample value, but also inter-sample overloads allowing dynamic correction of reconstruction overloads in real-time. Sophisticated dithering functionality with selectable and variable depth noise shaping ensures first class mastering output quality in either 24 bit or 16 bit modes.

“With Limiters being used in so many different fields,” comments Marketing Manager – Nathan Eames, “we felt it important to offer a plug-in which would be flexible in terms of the sound it would create when limiting. It will of course produce the high-end crystal clear sound you’ve come to expect from Sony Oxford over the years, but at the other extreme, mixes can be taken to a whole new level of aggression and excitement!”

Pricing is as follows:
Oxford Limiter TDM: $530 – £295 (euro 430)
Oxford Limiter LE: $350 – £195 (euro 285)
