Update: Linplug teams up with Maxx Claster for Octopus

After teaming with Rob Papen to give us the highly succesful Albino soft synths, Linplug has now teamed up with Maxx Claster to bring us a new soft synth named Octopus.

The Octopus is a Dual-Matrix synthesizer containing one Matrix for Oscillator/Filter frequency modulation synthesis and another Matrix for general modulation. The instrument features 8 additive Oscillators, a Sampler and a unique and powerful approach to modulation – 32 complex multi-purpose envelopes with a wide range of modulation destinations.

The synthesizer’s design concept is quite straightforward however this belies its powerful and rich sound generation capabilities. The key component for building a sound is the instrument’s 8 oscillators, Sampler, 2 filters and 32 envelopes. These components are all you need to create anything from classic “old school” FM timbres to complex sounds far beyond those possible with conventional FM synthesis. Editing the Octopus is a breeze, because all controls are located on a single panel which is always on view, so you can see at a glance any synth parameter. All of these features allow you to build a vast palette of unique sounds quickly and easily.

More details on release are to be announced. Price is set at 129 Euro ($149). More details on the Linplug website.
