Steinberg today announced the shipping of the Rupert Neve Designs Portico 5033 EQ and 5043 compressor, two pro-audio VST/AU signal processing plug-ins, unveiled at this year’s NAMM show. Each plug-in is available as boxed version at authorized Steinberg dealers and as boxed or download version through the Steinberg Online Shop for EUR 499/GBP 422.* The bundle price is EUR 799/GBP 677.*
Thanks to Yamaha’s Virtual Circuitry Modeling (VCM) technology, the hardware of Rupert Neve Designs has now been successfully emulated in the digital domain.
“At Yamaha and K’s LAB, we apply very strict circuitry modeling if required. This way we can choose how to emulate the sound and tonality of each hardware unit accordingly,” comments Toshifumi Kunimoto, general manager of the Corporate Research & Development Center at Yamaha Corp. “We invest lengths of time to obtain the right sound.”
The RND Portico 5033 five-band equalizer comes with three bands of fully parametric filters, each with dedicated gain, center-frequency, and Q controls as well as one band each of high and low-shelving filters. A global bypass switch and trim control are also available.
The RND Portico 5043 compressor features threshold, ratio, attack, release and gain controls for intricate signal compression. The feed-forward or feed-back compression mode allow users to switch between an aggressive and subtle compression response.
Steinberg offers a trial version as free download from its website in order for interested customers to witness the exceptional quality of the RND Portico plug-ins. The trial version comprises both RND Portico 5033 and Portico 5043 which can be tested without restrictions for 30 days.
