Arturia is diving deep into vintage Moog territory with Memory V, a software recreation of the legendary Memorymoog — one of the most massive and unpredictable poly synths ever made. If you’re into towering analog brass, aggressive leads, and thick cinematic pads, this is one to keep on your radar.
The original Memorymoog, released between 1982 and 1985, packed six voices with three VCOs each and earned its reputation as “six Minimoogs in one.” It was famous for its sheer sonic weight, but also for being unstable, expensive, and notoriously difficult to maintain. Memory V captures that raw character while making it far more usable inside a modern studio workflow.
Arturia modeled the full signal path, including the Moog ladder filter, triple VCO architecture, mixer, and VCAs with all their non-linear quirks. There’s also added Drive for extra saturation, plus modern upgrades like drag-and-drop modulation, built-in effects, MPE support, NKS integration, and a Multi-Arpeggiator.
One standout feature is the Unison mode, which stacks up to six triple-VCO voices into a single monster mono patch. That means up to 15 oscillators pushing out dense analog chaos that feels purpose-built for synthwave leads, cinematic scoring, and huge electronic textures.
The included 300+ presets cover everything from vintage poly pads to unstable ambient keys and gritty basses. Arturia also leaned into the Memorymoog’s famous instability with Vintage dispersion controls and expanded voice modulation for subtle pitch, pan, and filter variations.
Memory V looks like a serious option for producers chasing that oversized 80s analog sound without dealing with vintage hardware prices or maintenance headaches.
