KOMA Elektronik Monoplex Pushes Generative Eurorack Sequencing Further

KOMA Elektronik just dropped Monoplex, a new 42HP Eurorack sequencer built for producers who like their sequences alive, evolving, and patchable from every angle. Inspired by the larger Komplex Sequencer, Monoplex focuses on a single-channel workflow while going deep on modulation and performance control.

This is a fully CV-able 16-step analog and MIDI sequencer where almost every major function can be voltage controlled. Sequence length, first step, transpose, glide, gate length, clock divisions, play modes, skip behavior, and ratcheting-style repeats can all be modulated externally. That makes Monoplex feel less like a static sequencer and more like a playable modulation hub for melodic systems.

On the output side, you get CV, Gate, Trigger, and MIDI out with selectable 2V, 5V, or 10V ranges plus unipolar and bipolar CV modes. There’s also swing, one-shot playback, multiple play modes, and even customizable interface colors.

One of the strongest features here is the quantizer section. Alongside standard scales, Monoplex supports the Wilson MTS-ESP scale system with three user-definable scales and live editing. Scales can be uploaded directly from a browser via SysEx on desktop or mobile, captured live from MIDI keyboards, or eventually programmed directly from the sequencer itself. MIDI synths also get proper microtonal support through Note On and Pitch Bend implementation.

Sync options are extensive too, including MIDI clock master/slave functionality, clock I/O, reset, pause, start/stop triggers, and division outputs.
