Allen & Heath Xone:DX arrives at the Gearjunkies Lab

Today was a good day! Yes, the good people from TM Audio (dutch importer) send us a shiny Xone:DX controller to play with. It is always cool to unbox ‘new gear’. That’s what we live for (… amongst other activities of course). In the coming weeks we are going to put this DX to the test and get a review going, so we can let you know what we think about this controller. Allen & Heath released this Xone:DX earlier this year. It is a new performance audio controller for electronic DJs and is the result of close design collaboration between Allen & Heath and Serato. The Xone:DX with Serato ITCH DJ software now offers 4 Virtual Decks and the latest Serato DJ FX.

Not a tutorial, just a cool video on NI MASCHINE 1.5.

Yesterday Native Instruments released MASCHINE 1.5, a major free update that significantly increases the functionality and creative potential of the acclaimed computer-based music production system. With more classic drum machine features, improved host integration, new sampling functions, an extended sound library, and even more efficient workflow, the 1.5 software expands on the concept of MASCHINE as the most integrated and intuitive groove production studio for producers, live musicians and DJs. Below is a video of Justin Myracks, aka F Major, who builds a beat from scratch on Maschine version 1.5. This is not a tutorial – it simply shows how fast and hands-on Maschine is for creating a great groove.

Final MusikMesse post – Gearjunkies Video Tour

Here it is, … our final MusikMesse post. This year (like the previous ones) we shot a lot of pictures and video footage. Not everything ended up in a post on Gearjunkies. But we thought we could compile most of the video footage and make a MusikMesse Tour to give you a short impression of the Messe this year. We want to thank all the manufacturers who gave us the opportunity to play with their latest gear. We enjoyed that very much. We call ourselves ‘gearjunkies’ for a reason of course!

Gearjunkies MusikMesse 2010 Roundup

Another Messe show is behind us, and it is time for the Gearjunkies Roundup of the new product releases from the show! The first impression was that there was not so much news around, but a second look gave away a lot of smaller as well as bigger product news. We actually had a lot of heated discussions over big kebabs to come up with our winners! So, here we go!

Feeltune Rhizome demonstration – Gearjunkies Video

Before the Messe we made our own list of products we definately wanted to see and feel. One of those new (announced) products was the Feeltune Rhizome. It is like a hardware DAW. All the stuff you need to make music in a box, so to speak. Easy to use like a groove machine, powerful like the latest computer technology, and empowered by the versatility of plugins. The Rhizome is the only box combining samplers, mixing desk, sequencers and synthesizers, totally open and compatible with VSTs.
