Native Instruments today introduced ABBEY ROAD VINTAGE DRUMMER, a new KONTAKT instrument that features the sound of two vintage drum kits from the 1940s. Both kits were recorded with a combination of state-of-the-art equipment and period microphones at Abbey Road Studios in London, providing a natural, open sound suitable for contemporary productions. For the first time in Native Instruments’ successful ABBEY ROAD Series, VINTAGE DRUMMER includes brush articulations especially recorded to provide the authentic sound and style of the swing/big band era.

New Sounds for the Korg Kronos and OASYS from Karma-Lab

Karma-Lab introduces Reincarnated – Groove Nirvana, a new set of 32 exciting and inspiring KARMA-fied combis for the Korg Kronos and Korg OASYS. Priced at only US$32, the sound set includes grooves and sonic textures in a wide variety of styles, ranging from a mixture of Hip-Hop, Dance, Electronica, Trance & Techno categories to Ambient, Jazz, New-Age, Film Score, and World/Ethnic categories. Previously released for the M3 and M50, the set has now been brought to the Kronos and OASYS as well, taking advantage of the multiple synth engines and increased polyphony and effects capabilities.

Since its opening in 1931, Abbey Road Studios have been known as a bastion of recording excellence and innovation. EMI’s Recording Engineer Development Department (REDD) was established in 1955 by Abbey Road Studios technical engineer Lenn Page to address the needs of the then-burgeoning stereophonic format. Within a year, the team’s efforts had led to the production of the REDD.1 console, Abbey Road Studios’ first dedicated stereo mixing system, which consisted of a REDD.8 mixer and a rack that housed its amplifiers and other components.
