Producertech is an online provider of music tutorials teaching popular music software and hardware, including Ableton Live, Logic, Reason and also individual instruments covered in the synth courses. Via their website music-courses.com they announce two new mastering courses and a new dubstep course.
Zeitgeist Matsering Courses
The first course, Mastering Now – The Complete Guide, is a comprehensive, in-depth look at audio mastering and will give you exactly what you need to begin or go further with your audio mastering with real confidence. The course consists of over 6 hours of dedicated mastering tutorials, including 3 real life example tracks mastered from start to finish, a guide to the tools of the trade, some of the more secret tools and processes
used, and a look at how to improve your critical decision making. There is undoubtedly something in this course for everyone!
The second course, An Industry Example, is an hour-long step-by-step guide to mastering a dance track from start to finish, using predominantly Waves plug-ins. This is also one of the last three example tracks from the Complete Guide, so anyone wanting to try out that course can sign up to this shorter course first to see an example of the content and delivery, before deciding whether to upgrade to the full course, which can then be done at a discounted rate.
After signing up to the course, students can access the streamed module movies 24/7 for as long as they need, allowing them to be watched and rewatched until everything has sunk in. At any point, Nicholas and the other Producertech tutors can be contacted via the forum, which allows Music Courses students and any mastering enthusiasts to discuss issues and interact with one another.
FracTroniX Dubstep Course
In this new online course, FracTroniX takes you through each stage of producing a heavy Dubstep track with Logic Pro. The course is split into parts, which focus on each of the main areas of production, including creating beats, basslines and melodic accompaniment, as well as mixing and mastering. The first part shows the secrets of making chunky beats, beginning with sample selection, which is done with a spectral analyzer to provide a visual guide to each choice. Then, the samples are sequenced and processed with insert and send effects, before a submix track is created, allowing the break to be glued together and fattened up.
All of the techniques are shown using Logic’s built-in instruments and effects, with the main bass parts largely created using separate instances of ES2. As well as improving your knowledge of Logic’s instruments and effects, the course will teach you new ways to compose and produce music, helping you gain a fresh perspective and taking your abilities to new heights. The course is presented in a series of online streamed videos, with an accompanying Logic Project to download. Additionally, FracTroniX and the other Producertech tutors are available on the forum to help out with any issues or give feedback on your music.
