Swedish music hardware company Elektron releases new Elektron Grammofon 12″ vinyl by Headless Horseman
The dark knight of eerily appealing techno — Headless Horseman — is back with a vengeance. This time, he has chosen to recruit the Elektron Octatrack, Analog Rytm, Overbridge and Machinedrum UW in order to pursue his modern-day arcane craft. His three tracks on this, the latest Elektron Grammofon release, will have you dancing headless into the heady future. As always all proceeds go to charity.
This initially peristaltic, creepy-crawly beat evolves into a most dance-inspiring piece of condensed techno. The internal soundtrack of a reanimated corpse, jittering through the worm-ridden soil, making its way to the vibrant dockside club, and then finally blending in with the crowd and finding itself lost in music.
Another infectiously animating track. Just how the Horseman pulls off making harrowing nether-techno that has musical narrative as well as a lovely melody that stays with you long after hearing it is beyond comprehension. Curiously life-affirming.
The most devastating foot-shuffler of them all. The massive booming bass, captivating enough, is soon joined by an incessant teletype melody that furls and unfurls like the mimosa plant. Interestingly, the spectrogram of this track looks more like the stocks than the gallows. Any which way you end up dead, dance bravely into the next phase of being.
EGR45-00005 will be available for purchase from select retailers and Elektron.se on the 30th of September. Strictly limited one-time pressing of 300 copies.
