Marc Anthony, Chayanne, and Marco Antonio Solis–three of the biggest names in Latin pop–are currently out on the road together on their 14-city North American GIGANT3S tour. Manning the house mix for Anthony once again is his longtime FOH engineer, Jose A. Rivera, Jr., who has recently chosen to apply an A-Designs HM2EQ HAMMER dual-channel tube equalizer and HM2 NAIL compressor/limiter across the stereo mix buss.
Since joining Sarm Studios in 2005, Graham Archer has moved up the ranks to become one of Trevor Horn’s top in-house engineers. Having recently engineered recordings for Seal, Robbie Williams, Massive Attack, Ellie Goulding and Madonna, Archer is often found in Sarm’s London or Los Angeles studio reaching for his A-Designs Audio HM2 NAIL compressor/limiter.
Hoobastank drummer Chris Hesse pounds tracks with HAMMER and NAIL. Hoobastank recently put the finishing touches on its highly anticipated new record, Fight or Flight, which makes its official debut in late August. Nearly two years in the making, the album was partially tracked at Woodland Hills-based studio The Lighthouse, owned by Hoobastank drummer Chris Hesse, who found frequent opportunities to use his A-Designs HAMMER equalizer and new NAIL compressor.
Following its well-received “sneak-peak” preview at the NAMM Show earlier this year, the new HM2 NAIL Compressor from A-Designs Audio is now shipping. Featuring a hybrid topology combining a feedback diode-based design with a 12AT7 tube output section, the dual mono-channel NAIL offers practically endless possibilities in terms of compression control and envelope shaping. Engineers will quickly discover that a number of unique features, including Hard Threshold, Filter and Mix, set the NAIL apart from other more traditional compressors on the market.
There are rare times in the professional audio industry when a new piece of recording equipment comes to the market that is ahead of its time. A Designs Audio, Inc. believes the HM2 Compressor “Nail” is one of those pieces of recording equipment.
