Tracktion Corporation has announced a significant escalation in its support for the Linux operating system. The company’s flagship T6 digital audio workstation (DAW) platform has completed a lengthy public beta test program and is now released for Linux, as well as Mac and Windows, as a full version. The DAW is priced at $60 for all operating systems. Tracktion’s award-winning Master Mix multi-band stereo mastering plugin and Micro Synth Pack virtual instruments are also available for Linux. These are priced at $59.99 and $39.99 respectively. These products are available individually or together as a discounted bundle called T6+ that is priced at $100.
Tracktion’s T6 and T6+ are available directly from the manufacturer via the tracktion.com website while Master Mix and the Micro Synth Pack are available via Tracktion’s Marketplace at marketplace.tracktion.com. To ease the audition and installation of effects and instruments, Marketplace appears as an in-app retail resource when using the T6 DAW.
“As a group, we’ve always been Linux enthusiasts,” explained James Woodburn, a Tracktion principal. “Its open-source nature fits well with Tracktion’s core philosophy of providing musicians with powerful, creative tools at the best possible value. Very few music production applications or quality plugins have been offered for Linux users in the 24 years since its introduction. By optimizing our most popular products for Linux, we intend to maintain a leadership role in support of this valuable operating system.”
