Artinoise trillo Wants to Make Digital Wind Instruments Truly Pocketable

Artinoise is back with another take on the digital wind instrument, and this time it’s going even smaller. The new trillo is a 22cm pocket-sized digital flute built for instant playability, but with enough MIDI depth to fit into serious studio and live setups too.

The big idea here is simple: no setup friction. Unlike many compact MIDI instruments, trillo works straight out of the box with onboard sounds already loaded. No phone pairing required. Just switch it on and play. That “pick up and play” approach comes directly from feedback Artinoise received from users of its earlier instruments like the re.corder and ZEFIRO.

Despite the tiny size, trillo packs in breath sensors, motion tracking, multicolored LEDs, onboard speakers support via audio out, plus MIDI over both USB and Bluetooth. Breath intensity and movement data can shape the sound in real time, which makes it more expressive than your average portable controller.

Sound-wise, it comes with a built-in library plus seven slots for premium sound packs. One pack is included, while extra sounds and backing tracks can be added through the companion app. The app also handles MIDI track imports, fingering setups, and learning tools, though importantly, you don’t actually need it to use the instrument.

Artinoise has launched trillo on Kickstarter with early bird pricing at €69 for the first 200 backers, then €79 during the campaign. Both prices exclude taxes.
