This weekend Cakewalk announced the immediate release and availability of the next version of Sonar. One the most interesting new features was the full integration of Celemony Melodyne. Thanks to Celemony’s ARA technology, Sonar users get a particularly user-friendly Melodyne integration, so it’s only fitting that Melodyne essential is included in the bundle.
One of the major issues of getting a mix right is to know how well the mix translates on any given speaker system. How more worse it sounds the better in that case. That’s why I use the stock audio system in my car because it sounds abysmal which is perfect to check mixes. Also when your monitors aren’t that pristine, when you are listening to a mix, you’ll often miss out on details. The other way around applies as well. Even when you have a mastering grade sound system you may wonder how it will sound on a consumer grade sound system. Of course you can create your own impulse responses of various environments and use them with a impulse response plug-in to create this effect but that takes effort and time.

Plugin Alliance partners with accusonus to introduce the world’s first drum leakage suppression tool, called Drumaton. KINETIC METAL combines creatively-sampled, unconventional metal objects with artificial waveforms and is aimed primarily at producers and sound designers seeking atmospheric textures, mallet-like lead sounds, and delicate percussion. Two large, easy-to-use modification wheels allow users to quickly manipulate the sound. An auto-motion feature allows producers to set one or both of these wheels turning on their own, giving them freedom to focus on performance. 2013 marks the bicentenary of the birth of Italian composer Giuseppe Verdi, and to honour the occasion, the Fondazione Teatro La Fenice decided to perform Verdi’s famous opera ‘Otello’ in the stunning outdoor environment of the 15th century courtyard of the Palazzo Ducale, in the heart of Venice. The event revived a tradition of presenting outdoor performances at the Ducal Palace that ran from 1949-67, and the work itself is a passionate tribute to the city.
