Sometimes I (Eric) come across projects or videos that … well, that gives me love for music, love for life, just love! I instantly get into a wonderful good mood. And this week that project is from Ólafur Arnalds, a fantastic Icelandic musician. I don’t know what they have in the water there but I really like the music coming from this island. I probably don’t have to mention I am a big fan of Sigur Ros as well! Anyway, Ólafur had this project going this week called ‘Living Room Songs’. This week he creates and releases a new song, one per day for one whole week. The songs are being recorded and filmed live in the living room of his Reykjavík apartment and released instantly for FREE as streamed videos and MP3 downloads.
With the announcement of the Maschine Mikro a while back, Native Instruments also announced thier very first iPhone, iTouchand iPad called iMaschine. This App is an intuitive beat sketchpad based on MASCHINE’s groove production studio concept. iMASCHINE is perfect for developing song ideas anytime, anywhere. And that’s what Jamie Lidell will show us in the video below.

We were just thinking how quiet it was at the gear front. And then there’s suddenly this video teaser by Allen & Heath. The video itself doesn’t name names but we trust our friend Skratchworx as he is quite the inside man when it comes to DJ gear. According to him A&H will introduce the DB4s little brother the Xone:DB2 at the coming BPM trade show in the UK. As a well done teaser should be, not much is given away by Allen & Heath, but … there’s no denying the DB2 will look just awesome! And if we can rely on the quality of the Xone:DB4, performance will be as good too. This DJ ‘gem’ will be introduced on the first of october so till then… enjoy the video!

Now the Steinberg company have joined the ranks of companies that start to tease a new product with an obscure and mysterious video. What will it be then? Maybe an easy customisable controller for a better workflow setup? Or maybe two controllers? One low-cost and one for the professional users?
