RME BOB-16 break-out boxes now shipping

RME starts shipping three different BOB-16 breakout boxes – perfect rack solutions for interconnecting multichannel XLRs with the common D-sub connector format. The BOB-16 connects up to 16 XLR inputs and/or 16 XLR outputs (Neutrik connectors) with two D-sub 25-pin connectors. It works like two breakout cables D-Sub from/to XLR. The usual multicore breakout cables are replaced with a 19” rack mount unit, preventing cable chaos, errors and connection problems.

Three different versions are available: BOB-16 I, BOB-16 O and BOB-16 I/O.

BOB-16 I: Connects 16 XLR inputs to two D-sub 25-pin outputs (channels 1-8 and channels 9-16). The breakout box supports all interfaces using analog 25-pin D-sub inputs as well as the following RME interfaces: M-32 DA, M-16 DA.

BOB-16 O: Connects 8 XLR outputs to two D-sub 25-pin inputs (channels 1-8 and channels 9-16). The breakout box supports all interfaces using an analog 25-pin D-sub output as well as the following RME interfaces: M-32 AD, M-16 AD.

BOB-16 I/O: Connects 8 XLR inputs to a D-sub 25-pin connector and 8 XLR outputs to another D-sub 25-pin connector. The breakout box supports all interfaces using an analog 25-pin D-sub I/O as well as the following RME interfaces: ADI-8 QS, ADI-8 DS, M-32 AD, M-32 DA, M-16 AD, M-16 DA.

The BOB-16 is pin compatible to the common TASCAM pinout format (e. g. used by RME and Digidesign). Adapters to the YAMAHA format are available from RME partner ALVA. All three BOB-16 boxes provide the revolutionary Flip frame option. It allows to change rack brackets and handles from front to rear and thus to change XLR or D-sub from front to rear as well. This way a BOB will perfectly fit in every rack and working situation.
