The original Hartmann Neuron was an electronic musical instrument designed and built by German industry designer Axel Hartmann in the years 2001-2004. The Neuron synthesizer used an Artificial Neural Network to create a digital computer model from sampled sounds, implementing a new synthesis technology which was developed by Stephan Bernsee at Prosoniq.
OSXTools developed a nice tool to make your Hartmann Music remote control talk to your entire setup via MIDI and the free ReModellizer, a tool that converts your models at the press of a button.
Hartmann, manufacturers of the Neuron and Neuron VS, have stated that they are on the brink of bankruptcy. A subcontracter which produces the Hartmann products sold a large number of products from their stock against under-cost prices, without the knowledge of Hartmann, to internet resellers. The result of these illegal sales is the total breakdown of the Hartmann sales structure.
Many Neuron VS users have been asking for MODELmaker, the software that makes it possible to transform own samples into neuronal Models. Since its release in December, users and potential users have complained in different forums that MODELmaker was not included in the Neuron VS package. Many conversations with users also just a few days ago at winter NAMM in Anaheim/California – have finally convinced us to open up this very important and individual part of neuronal synthesis to Neuron VS users as well.
From today, MODELmaker is freely available to all registered Neuron VS users. Just go to www.hartmann-music.com/home/members where you can download MODELmaker for Mac OS 9 / OS X and PC as well as the MODELmaker manual PDF.
Under the same link, there will also be a software update for Neuron VS shortly.
he wait is over! – “and it was worth waiting for” – so says Hartmann managing director Stefan Rapp. “Many people may think, that the VS is nothing but a downgrade version of the Neuron hardware synthesizer. Let me tell you – this is simply not the truth!”
Planned for release in September 2004, Hartmann Music announced their Neuron VS Software Synthesizer, a PC and MAC compatible application.
