Moog Music has been announced as a nominee for the 31st Annual NAMMTechnical Excellence & Creativity Awards, in the category of Outstanding Technical Achievement. The Moog Modular Recreation received a nomination in the “Musical Instrument Hardware” category, while the Minifooger MF-Chorus and MF-Flange analog effects pedals both received nominations in the “Musical Instrument Amplification & Effects” category.
Presented by the NAMM Foundation, the TEC Awards were created to celebrate the best in professional audio and sound production. Winners will be announced Saturday evening, January 23, 2016 in the Anaheim Hilton’s Pacific Ballroom and via a live event web stream. Following a two-month call for entries, a panel of respected industry professionals from the audio and creative disciplines carefully evaluated each entry before selecting products for nomination.
Mike Adams, CEO and President of Moog Music, commented: “Everything we do at Moog is a team effort, and we are all very excited and grateful to the TEC Foundation for all three nominations.”
Modular Recreation
Following the faithful recreation of the Emerson Moog Modular system last year, Moog began recreating three more modular systems starting in January 2015. These Modular Recreations include the System 55, the System 35 and the Model 15 analog synthesizers. Each system matches the original product specifications, manufacturing techniques and processes from the 1970s. Every module is built just as they were in 1973 – by hand-stuffing and hand-soldering components to circuit boards, and using traditional wiring methods. Even the front panels are photo-etched aluminum, a classic process rarely used today, to maintain the classic and durable look of vintage Moog modules.
MF-Chorus and MF-Flange
The MF Chorus is a 100% analog BBD based time modulation pedal with mono or stereo output capabilities and dedicated expression pedal input. The unique design allows it to create a wide range of sounds that extend far beyond the reaches of traditional analog chorus. Everything from subtle shifting and analog vibrato all the way into modulated slap delay is possible.
The MF-Flange is a 100% analog BBD based harmonic manipulator pedal with mono or stereo output capabilities and dedicated expression pedal input. It features a flexible voicing switch with two unique flanger voices, vocal and traditional, as well as 4 wide range controls that allow for completely unique sound sculpting and even analog chorus.
The NAMM TEC Awards is held live from the NAMM Show, the world’s leading music product industry trade event. The January 23 event begins with a reception at 6PM, followed by the awards ceremony at 7PM.
