Like many musical sensations, Gotye (aka. Wally De Backer), got his big break with a little help from YouTube. It was the imaginative music video for his single ‘Somebody That I Used To Know’, featuring Kiwi singer Kimbra, that first boosted his profile to near-astronomical levels (of course, it’s a great song too). With a rapidly rising 91 million YouTube hits and gargantuan chart success around the world — including number one chart positions in the UK, Australia, Germany and on the US Billboard Alternative Chart — Gotye is almost certain to be here to stay.

iVoxel is not only an amazingly sounding vocoder – the unique concept of iVoxel turns this vocoder into a singing machine. iVoxel is a combination of a voice optimized synthesizer and a vocoder. The vocoder part is based on the Matrix vocoder from VirSyn used by many famous artists – one of them the well known german group Kraftwerk. The channel filters used by iVoxel are based on the Sennheiser Vocoder VSM201 resulting in a rich and fat analogue sound characteristic.
Among audio professionals, the Fairchild 670 is the most coveted of all compressors, not only because of its unique color and character, but also its rarity and price: With fewer than 100 units ever made, original Fairchilds routinely go for tens of thousands of dollars on the vintage market. With 20 vacuum tubes and 4 hand-wired transformers in a hefty 6 rack-space chassis, these hard-to-find units weigh in at a robust 65 lbs. Both the stereo 670 and its mono counterpart the Fairchild 660 use single push-pull amplification stages with extremely high control voltages. Both variable-mu limiters are unique in that they use tubes for gain reduction as well as amplification. Compression takes place directly in the audio path, rather than being routed to a separate circuit.
With four EPs, three GRAMMY Awards (including Best Dance/Electronica Album), 300 shows a year and a long-awaited debut album on his plate, Skrillex is the biggest—and busiest—dance producer on the planet. He’s remixed Lady Gaga, La Roux, Bruno Mars and more, and has recorded with the surviving members of The Doors. He also swears by Ozone for “tightening up your mix,” and loves to mess around with Trash.
Oh, and did you know he’s only 24?
