Introducing Moog Werkstatt-01 Analog Synthesizer Kit

During Moogfest 2014, Moog Music facilitated a two-day workshop in which Moog engineers assisted 125 participants in building Werkstatt, an educational, patchable analog synthesizer designed specifically for the event. It was Moog’s first workshop since 1997 when Bob Moog held a theremin workshop in Portland, Maine. Led by Steve Dunnington, Moog Product Development Specialist, the Moogfest 2014 synth building workshop received overwhelmingly positive feedback from participants and since then, Moog has fielded numerous requests to offer the Werkstatt analog synthesizer in a wider release. In an effort to bring this educational synth to more customers, Moog is releasing a no-soldering-required version of Werkstatt called, Werkstatt-Ø1 Moogfest 2014 Analog Synthesizer in extremely limited quantities at select US dealers only.

Moog announces the Moog Theremini

Moog Music announced the official release of the Theremini; a re-imagining of one of the oldest electronic musical instruments, and Bob Moog’s first love – the Theremin. It is the only known instrument that you play without touching. Moving your hands in the space around its antennas controls pitch and volume. The Theremini combines a powerful sound engine derived from Moog’s award winning synthesizer, Animoog, with the traditional no-touch playing of a Theremin.

Finally, a keyboard that unlocks the expressive potential of synthesis. The promise of synthesis was to produce any instrument sound from a MIDI keyboard. However, if you’ve ever tried to play a convincing guitar, sax, violin, clarinet or cello solo on a MIDI keyboard, you’ve found it to sound static and lifeless because keyboards can’t do much more than turn sounds on and off at different volumes. LinnStrument takes a new approach, capturing each finger’s subtle movements in three dimensions for simultaneous fine control of note expression, pitch and timbre. With this level of expressive control, the promise of synthesis is finally a reality.

Moog recreates Emerson Moog Modular Synth … for real!

Over 300 Fairlight sounds added to Nord Sample Library

Nord Keyboards this week announced a major addition to the Nord Sample Library, the sounds of the legendary Fairlight digital sampler. The Fairlight was the first commercially available polyphonic sampler when launched back in 1979 and it opened up the doors of sampling to many artists and producer during the 80’s. The sounds in this collection were all sampled from a newly overhauled Fairlight CMI System IIx, with detailed mapping to capture that characteristic Fairlight sound!
