For this week we have an interesting video. It is a dublab documentary project featuring four amazing, LA-based beat makers: Daedelus, J.Rocc, Nobody and Ras G – in a secret mission to create new musical magic from the dusty remains of thrift store vinyl. Almsot exactly two years ago the guys behind Mixed In Key wanted to create their mashups in 5 minutes or less, but there was no easy way to do it. Then they created the Mashup software. This week they released the next version, 2.0. Mashup 2.0 software helps to beatmatch tracks and save results to new audio files. It’s the ultra-fast audio editor that they always wanted for Windows and Mac.

Wave Shaping Synthesis is a type of distortion synthesis that can create dynamic spectra in a controlled way. In wave shaping it is possible to change the spectrum with the amplitude of the sound. A simple example of this method is the clipping caused by overdriving an audio amplifier.
With SUPERCHARGER GT, Native Instruments takes the sound of modern tube compression even further with superior control, additional saturation, and sonic sculpting. Put on the ritz! Octa Pak 6 – Indie Dance is here, bristling with sounds inspired by the disco era and the sounds of the 1980s. The people at Propellerhead caught up with producer & DJ ResetRobot to find out more about his creative process and his use of the Reason DAW software. Emerging rejuvenated from the studio in 2009, Reset Robot announced himself with the licensing of no fewer than 6 tracks to the internationally acclaimed Sci+Tec label, under the stewardship of Ali Shirazinia – better known to the world as Dubfire. Further releases followed on Get Physical, Soma, Adam Beyer’s Drumcode, and with his feet still firmly planted in the underground, Portsmouth’s own Wolf Trap label.

This past weekend the whole Gearjunkies team, assisted by the DJ2DJ team, was present at the biggest Electronic Music Production fair in The Netherlands, Dancefair in Utrecht. Two days full of workshops, panel discussions and seminars on everything Electronic Music. It is the perfect opportunity to watch and learn from top DJs and producers, like Armin van Buuren and Hardwell, on how they build a track for example. At Dancefair there’s also an expo where you can see, feel and play with the latest new gear. Best example was the world premiere of the new Roland AIRA instruments.
