Something for the Weekend: Carlo Castellano doing Daft Punk

Carlo Castellano is a professional session keyboard player (piano, organ, synthesizers and programming) with both studio and live experience. As a composer and sound designer he works on short films, documentaries and video games. I came across this video on Vimeo and immediately loved. it. Not only because I am a big fan of Daft Punk, but also because Carlo just did a fantastic job recreating the sounds of the original Aerodynamic track. All in all this is just a great video, really something for the weekend!

Presonus StudioLive 24.4.2 Overview – Video

Like its 16-channel sibling, the 24-channel StudioLive 24.4.2 is designed for both studio recording and live sound, without compromising the requirements for either. StudioLive 24.4.2 sports the same friendly user interface, robust feature set, and extensive I/O configuration as the StudioLive 16.4.2 but with several significant additions and enhancements. The most obvious difference is that the new mixer provides 24 input channels, rather than 16. As with the 16.4.2, each input features a trim pot, XLR mic input with XMAX™ mic preamp, 1/4-inch TRS balanced line inputs and unbalanced insert points. Like the 16.4.2, the StudioLive 24.4.2 offers 4 subgroup outputs, but where the 16-channel model offers 6 aux buses, the 24.4.2 provides 10 aux buses.

Wisseloord Studios – A new concept with an old soul

Wisseloord Studios – A new concept with an old soul

Originally started as the ‘in-house’ recording studios of the Philips Electronics company in 1978, the Wisseloord Studios in Hilversum grew to become one of the best recording facilities in Europe. Many famous artists recorded tracks here at one moment in time: ELO, Elton John, The Police, Scorpions, The Rolling Stones and Michael Jackson, to name just a few. However, in 2005 the studio started having financial problems which finally resulted in a bankrupcy in 2009.

Something for the Weekend: Tron Legacy and Daft Punk

It all makes sense to me! Allthough we know who Daft Punk is, their ‘act’ with the disguise with the futuristic helmets does suit the perception of the project as science fiction. So the thought of Daft Punk doing the original soundtrack for the Tron sequel … makes total sense. And not just the visual side of it all. No, Daft Punk’s music does fit the ‘feel/perception’ of the movie as well. At least … I think so.
