The Analogue Monologues – Part VIII: The Korg MS20 – Video

With the eminent release of the new Korg MS-20 Mini just around the corner, Vince Clarke shows us what the original was all about. The Analogue Monologues is a series of mini video-documentaries made by Vince Clarke (Depeche Mode/Yazoo/Erasure). In each webisode Vince talks about one of his analogue synths and explains where the on/off switch is. This series proves, once and for all, that he really doesn’t know much about anything (a must see!).

Something For The Weekend: The Animals House of the Rising Sun Old School Computer Remix

Ok, maybe this video is already one year old. That doesn’t mean it’s outdated or … whatever. We liked it and thought you might too. We came across this video thanks to AIAIAI, who have posted this on their website too. We think it is just a very cool example of ingenious use of the materials at your disposal, or just some people with a lot of free time. Anywho, check out this video from PureTune.

NAMM 2013 is now in the history books, with throngs of show-goers and hoards of manufacturers finally recovering from jet-lag and hangovers, following the music industry’s premiere annual trade show event in Southern California. It was standing room only in the MOTU booth throughout the show, with special guests and artist appearances over four days, along with a sneak preview of a major MOTU software upgrade.

Something For The Weekend: DJ Room Extreme Makeover

If it’s gear, records, CD’s, miscellaneous crap, you name it, your studio gets cluttered. IKEA recognised this problem and made a video of DJ Harry Love and his (HUGE) collection of vinyl records and gear. Like a “Extrem Home Makeover” they turned his DJ room (and house) in a much more liveable environment.

Turbo (Recordings) blows the mysteries of high-end studio production wide open with the first installment of its new Studio Sessions video series, featuring Munich superproducer Zombie Nation.

Something For The Weekend: Iced Vinyl from Shout Out Louds

Well, our first Something For The Weekend post of the year. As you might have understood this isn’t a weekly recurring post, like our Sample Saturday. We only post something cool if we come across something we think would be nice to see or hear. However this week we came across the video below from a band called the Shout Out Louds. Why do we like this video? Well read their video description below. Two words: “Ice” and “Vinyl”! Oh and you can download the track from the video for free by the way. Just click on the image!

DJ Shiftee with the Kontrol Z2, Maschine and a few Gold SL1200s

Watch DJ Shiftee perform a standout scratch routine in a New York warehouse — with Traktor Kontrol Z2 and Maschine. On the Z2, Shiftee works it with Remix Decks, post-fader effects, and Traktor Pro’s new Macro FX and Flux Mode. He also shows how he uses Maschine to control the same Remix Decks and cue points set up on the Z2, making it the ultimate performance partner to the world’s first 2+2 control mixer.
