After the Finger we get the Mouth from Native Instruments

After the success of THE FINGER, British artist and musical prankster Tim Exile is back with THE MOUTH! Designed to generate melodies and harmonies out of whatever audio material you feed it, THE MOUTH is a unique and exciting way to get creative results on the fly. Sing, beatbox or send a drum loop into it and THE MOUTH comes to life as a tweakable synthesizer, bass, vocoder or talkbox-like effect. A playful interface provides you with plenty of room to shape your results as you go.

Something for the Weekend: Tron Legacy and Daft Punk

It all makes sense to me! Allthough we know who Daft Punk is, their ‘act’ with the disguise with the futuristic helmets does suit the perception of the project as science fiction. So the thought of Daft Punk doing the original soundtrack for the Tron sequel … makes total sense. And not just the visual side of it all. No, Daft Punk’s music does fit the ‘feel/perception’ of the movie as well. At least … I think so.

FXpansion Geist release date announced

FXpansion joined the ranks of manufacturers to create a buzz around a new instrument, and started to tease us with ‘obscure’ videos on Youtube. In the first video there wasn’t much to see, but in the second video you can catch some visuals of the new virtual instrument. To me it looks like some kind of groovemachine or a simplified ‘Reason-like’ DAW. However the emphasize would be on sampling, re-sampling, slicing and sequencing! Oh and by the way, … they call it GEIST.

Something for the Weekend: A Band, some iPhones and a Subway

Ok it’s already sunday but this just came in and I thought I am gonna share this with you: A video of the band Atomic Tom. This video was filmed unannounced on Friday October 8, 2010 aboard the New York City B Train, over the Manhattan Bridge into Brooklyn and edited from 3 iPhone cameras. All footage is performed 100% live and executed in one take. The band is playing this track on their iPhones with music instrument apps. I am not sure I am believing the story behind it. It seems the band had their real instruments stolen and did an ‘impulsive’ gig on the subway. Ah well, … in the end it doesn’t matter because the ‘fun’ factor of this video is high enough (for my standards). Enjoy!
