Yesterday we posted the unveiling of the TYRELL analog synthesizer project by Amazona.de. They guys at Amazona send us some more pictures and details of this ambitious project.
The guys (and girls) at online magazine Amazona.de had this crazy idea. “What about we make our own analog, polyphonic Hardware-Synthesizer?” And that’s what they have been doing for this past year. With this project they tried to nutch the Industry in developing a new ployphonic analog synth again. TYRELL was born!
Recently I came across this video from KEXP Radio (LA) of artist Nosaj Thing (a.k.a. Jason Chung) doing a improv (!!!) set on a AKAI MPD32 (and NOT an APC40 as I posted before, sorry!). It is very nice to see how well some artists can get an awesome performance from so little.
These are the releases we have encountered this week on the Loops and Samples front. Just like the quality of the audio software we use these days the quality of the content we use (loops and samples) equally matches the high standards of this software. Below is this weeks selection.
Maybe it’s not exactly a re-creation of the original Sequential Circuits Prophet-5 but it is a hardware controller for the Gunnar Messiah VSTi. This software instruments is inspired by the Prophet-5, but instead of saw, tri and pulse oscillators it has 3 innovative oscillators: Morph oscillator with 4 waveforms, unison oscillator with 7 voices (and you can put this oscillator into 5 voice unison for 35 voices), and flexi oscillator that consist of 2 seperate waves that can perform PWM, ring mod. and phase distortion with very low CPU.
Celemony has a birthday to celebrate: the company was founded 10 years ago, and Melodyne has been with them for 10 years. 10 years in which the outstanding software has gone from an insider tip to one of the most highly valued audio tools around. Celemony is expressing its thanks with 10 of the legendary wooden boxes in which the first Melodyne was delivered. Each box contains a license for Melodyne editor, for Melodyne studio and for all Celemony software products released in the next 10 years. What that means is that everyone who gets a box will receive all the software products and updates released by Celemony until the year 2020 free of charge.
With Native Instruments offering great deals on Traktor Scratch Pro and Traktor Pro, now is the time to invest in a Digital Midi Mixer/controller that can make the most of the softwares features. The DN-X1600 offers premier quality design, build and performance, and shares many of the same features and performance specifications, as well as offering some new and improved features of its own. Included are Alps channel faders, extensive USB connectivity (both Windows® and MacOS® compatible), matrix input assignment with DVS mode, 32-bit internal digital processing, simultaneous MIDI operation – expanded to provide wide ranging control of DJ software applications with an exclusive MIDI controls and user interface section and even more (and new) digital effects. In addition to which, the DN-X1600 is the world’s first DJ mixer to feature Roland V-LINK protocol for VJ mixing.
At the coming NAMM BEHRINGER will unveil their new X32 Digital Mixer. Today is the day! The day that our ‘beloved’ UPS guy rang the doorbell and delivered my long-awaited Traktor S4 KONTROL. Yes, my own, not a review unit that has to go back to the Native Instruments HQ. After opening the box and touching it, feeling it, my initial impressions were pretty much the same after I played with it a few weeks ago at a product showing. Great design with a solid built quality. Considering the other products from Native Instruments, that’s almost obligatory. Either way, on that front NI delivers, again.
Loopmasters is giving you the opportunity to show your sound design skills. If you like to show what you got there is a catch however. You have to hurry as the deadline of the Loopmasters Patchworx Competition is the 30th of november. And that’s next week already!
