Yamaha 01V96i Digital Mixing Console Announced

The new 01V96i has been launched at InterBEE 2011, an international exhibition showcasing broadcast, video, audio and lighting equipment, held in Japan from November 16 through 18. Since its initial release in 1998, the 01V has been used in a wide variety of applications – both personal and professional – ranging from recording and production environments to live sound and installation setups. As this console has evolved over time, Yamaha has devoted itself to building a strong relationship with its customers in order to give them the features and improvements they need, enabling the 01V to remain the industry standard for compact digital mixers. Building on the proven configuration of its predecessors, the new 01V96i now offers USB 2.0 connectivity along with new multi-track recording features and improved sonic quality.

High quality multi-track recording and playback via USB 2.0 connection

The demand for multi-track recording in live sound applications is growing, and the 01V96i now features 16 in/16 out USB audio streaming at an impressive 96kHz, as well as multi-channel in/out via expansion card or ADAT. The addition of USB 2.0 makes high quality multi-track recording and playback faster and easier than ever, while providing full integration with every major ASIO and Core Audio DAW software?all with just a single connection. The 01V96i also comes bundled with the latest version of Steinberg’s Cubase AI, offering a comprehensive range of tools for recording, editing and mixing, and an intuitive interface that allows you to seamlessly execute every step of the recording process.

Full suite of Yamaha VCM Effects and high resolution REV-X reverbs

Yamaha’s acclaimed Virtual Circuitry Modeling (VCM) technology offers you an impressive array of tonal colors, bringing the richness and warmth of analog sound to a digital recording environment. Miles ahead of other digital simulations of analog equipment, VCM plug-ins model the actual circuitry of the original effects units, right down to the last resistor and capacitor. In fact, the very same VCM effects and REV-X reverbs used with Yamaha’s top-of-the-line professional mixers now all come as standard, pre-installed and ready to use, so that you can enjoy warm, high quality analog sound without having to transport delicate outboard gear.

24bit/96kHz high quality sound and advanced fanctionality

In addition to a class leading sampling rate of 24bit/96kHz, the 01V96i features newly improved, studio-quality head amps with high performance onboard 24bit/96kHz A/D and D/A converters. The 01V96i also shares all the functionality of its predecessor including precision 100mm motor faders, 99 scene memories for instant recall, and fully-configurable user defined keys to help users adapt to just about any studio or sound reinforcement environment.

Kazunori Kobayashi, General Manager of the Yamaha Pro Audio Division had this to say about the 01V96i’s upcoming release: “At Yamaha, we have always considered our continued correspondence with customers to be one of our most valuable assets in developing new products. The 01V96i is the embodiment of that philosophy, offering the versatility and reliability of current version while adding updated features and capabilities geared towards professional use. With this new console we are delighted to support a broader range of applications with a fully integrated, comprehensive system that in turn meets the growing needs and requirements of our customers.”
