Electro-Harmonix redefines the Wah-Wah Pedal with new Crying Tone wah wah

With the unveiling of the new Crying Tone wah wah, Electro-Harmonix has re-invented this classic pedal and brought it into the 21st Century.

EHX founder and president, Mike Matthews, explained its conception this way: “The wah wah pedal has been around since the 1960s and guitarists love them. But they also complain to me that the moving parts wear out, break and need to be replaced. Now, almost half a century later, technology has advanced to where we’re able to create a wah wah with absolutely no moving parts. The pedal sounds incredible, is more responsive and has no moving parts to break.

The Crying Tone wah wah pedal is part of a new series for Electro-Harmonix dubbed The Next Step. Currently, there are four other pedals designed and poised for production: An Expression Pedal, Pan Pedal, Talking Pedal (vocal formant wah with fuzz) and Volume Pedal. All feature the proprietary design that makes The Next Step Effects ground breaking.

Every aspect of the Crying Tone pedal’s design, from its unique shape to its state-of-the-art circuitry, is the result of almost three years of intensive design and development by an international team of engineers and musicians. The Crying Tone Wah Wah pedal comes equipped with a 9Volt battery and accepts an optional 9.6DC-200 power supply. The Crying Tone is shipping now and carries a U.S. List price of $116.
