Grammy award-winning drummer Morgan Ågren has been playing alongside some of the biggest stars in music for the best part of 30 years. Michael Brauer Uses Universal Audio on 2010s Best Engineered Album

Michael Brauer has enjoyed an illustrious 30-year music career, mixing chart-topping albums by renowned artists including Coldplay, Aretha Franklin, Bob Dylan, and The Rolling Stones. Last month he nabbed the coveted Best Engineered Album Grammy® Award for John Mayer’s Battle Studies, the latest in a long line of accolades for this A-list mixer. Long revered for the storied sonic approach he calls “BRAUERIZE”, Brauer holds court over an amperage-busting, NASA-like collection of vintage outboard gear at New York’s Electric Lady Studios. But even with access to some of the world’s most prized electronics, Brauer delegates a large portion of his signal processing duties these days to Universal Audio’s UAD-2 Powered Plug-Ins. “They have the sound I’m looking for,” he says. “And for me, it’s all about sound.”

It’s something that I’ll always go for if it’s in the room because I trust it and I know it always sounds great and it always comes through.

Turnlab interview – Aurex and Livid Instruments MIDI-controllers

The guys from Turnlab send us this cool video interview with Aurex. Aurex is a minimal techno, elektro artist from Belgium. His music is influenced by artists such as Stephan Bodzin, Oliver Huntemann, Paul Kalkbrenner, … but the aurex-sound is always there. Aurex performed live sets and dj sets at different festivals and clubs such as Forest Festival, Crammerock, Styletraveller XL, Eargasm and the Bootleg club in Rotterdam. When playing live, aurex is using hardware drumcomputers, samplers and synths. This leaves plenty of room for improvisation and interaction with the crowd so no aurex set sounds the same. Expect tight beats, dark sounds and a great vibe.
