Better workflow, speed, versatility and reliability with Nuendo 5.1.
By releasing Nuendo 5, the latest incarnation of the highly acclaimed digital audio workstation, Steinberg is further focusing on crucial aspects of post, live and studio production: workflow, speed, versatility and reliability. With this in mind, the Nuendo production software distinguishes itself with many useful complements to its powerful feature set, such as the post-oriented ADR functionality, the mixer’s new Wave Meters view and Clip Packages for organizing audio events. Another highlight is the import and conversion of multi-mono audio files from Pro Tools into Nuendo’s stereo-interleaved format which allows a seamless exchange of audio files.
Moog Filtatron meets Richard Devine – Video
Did we have some reservations on the realilty of this news at first. Now we know Moog is dead serious with the Filtatron app. Yesterday Moog released the official press release stating that the Filtatron app will be available October 18, 2010 for the iPhone and iPod Touch for $4.99.

New RME ADI-6432R BNC available now
The ADI-6432R BNC provides 64 channels of format conversion from MADI to AES-3id* and vice versa. Based on RME’s highly successful MADI-AES/AES-MADI converter ADI-6432, the newly developed ADI-6432R BNC offers broadcasters ease of integration and fail-safe operation through the utilization of industry standard BNC connectors and dual redundant power supplies, while offering 64 channels of I/O capability. The BNC version targets broadcast and professional users who require AES-3id connections – coaxial 75 Ohm cables with up to 300m length.

Not official yet but RME is about to introduce the Fireface UFX as the new flagship of RME’s audio interfaces. 60 channels of audio! Purely by coincidence we came across even more (un-announced) Moog news. Like so often a US retailer already communicated a product without the official introduction of its manufacturer. It seems that MOOG is about to release a desktop/rack version of the Little Phatty synth. Appropriately named SlimPhatty it hasn’t a keyboard.

Oh come on! Really? … Well it sure looks like it. Moog have entered the world of apps. The brand that represents one of the most ultimate analog gear, entered the other side! Soon to arrive – 4MIDILOOP Controller

AKAI announces Synthstation app and Controller Keyboard
Akai Professional, the name synonymous with music production, announces the SynthStation25 keyboard controller and the SynthStation music production app, both for iPhone and iPod Touch. Akai Pro will unveil the SynthStation25 and SynthStation app at the 2010 Winter NAMM Show in Anaheim, CA, January 14–17.
Touch Tablets in the Studio – Any iPad competition?
Now and the coming months several big electronics manufacturers are releasing their own touch tablets, all trying to get a piece of the Apple cake. Over the past two, three years the role of the iPhone and, recently, the iPad has matured from gadget to serious tool in a studio or live performance environment. Looking at the first music apps for the iPhone, I personally have to admit, I thought this was just a temporary fad, craze. But with the iPad, and because of its larger format, the HD apps are maturing fast and deserve to be taken seriously.
Version 2 of Audio Ease Snapper released
Snapper is the on-screen waveform that appears as soon as you select a sound file in the Mac Finder. While staying in the Finder, you can grab a part of the waveform and drag it anywhere: into another Finder window to create a new file, into tracks of your editing software, or you can convert it to split-stereo, mp3, mp4 etc. You can extract audio from video, normalize, fade, or shoot the selection up to the cursor of your Pro Tools, Nuendo, Cubase or Logic. All without ever leaving the Mac Finder.
