Cakewalk Announces FA-66 FireWire Audio Interface
Cakewalk announces the launch of the FA-66 FireWire Audio Interface for Mac and PC. The FA-66 is a compact, portable 6-in/6-out FireWire 400/800 audio interface designed for mobile recording and performance professionals. The unit has two XLR/TRS combo inputs with phantom powered mic preamps, with one offering Hi-Z for recording electric guitar or bass, plus two RCA inputs — all with zero latency direct monitoring. The FA-66 delivers 4×4 simultaneous performance at up to 24-bit/192kHz sound quality, or 6×6 simultaneous performance at up to 24-bit/96 kHz.

Steinberg ships Nuendo SyncStation synchronizer solution
Steinberg is pleased to announce shipping of a benchmark-setting new hardware sync solution in almost any production situation: Nuendo SyncStation. A solidly-built 19” rack mount unit houses the latest sync technology designed by industry legend Colin Broad to lock with complete reliability to video tape recorders, analog tape machines, other DAWs, house sync generators to name but a few.
Designed for but not restricted to operation with Steinberg’s Nuendo Advanced Audio Production System, Nuendo SyncStation supports an exhaustive list of standards and protocols, including MTC, LTC and MMC as well as VITC and Sony 9-pin via RS422, WordClock, HD/Tri-level sync, Black Burst and Varispeed operation over a huge array of Pull-up/Pull-down settings. Nuendo Sync Station also supports the sample-accurate VST System Link protocol over digital connections such as AES/EBU and S/PDIF. Uniquely, Nuendo SyncStation can offer extremely accurate sync using traditionally less accurate standards like MTC by referencing with sample-accuracy to each video frame.
PreSonus Studio One 1.1 Adds A Wealth of Features
PreSonus announced version 1.1 of its Studio One DAW software, which adds multiple features and enhancements. You can now draw automation waveforms, and automation points can be locked to selected events, so automation moves with the related events. A transform function lets you scale, stretch, and otherwise modify automation envelopes. An Undo history enables viewing and undoing all edits done since the file was opened, even if you have saved since then. A pitch-name editor is available in the drum layout, and you can save and load names from a pitch-name list.
SoundCloud hooks up with PreSonus and Audiofile Engineering
SoundCloud, the online music service, today launches the first in a series of product integrations with professional music software makers which will enable producers to upload their tracks to the web direct from their favourite audio applications. The first partnerships, announced today at NAMM, are with Studio One from PreSonus and Audiofile Engineering‘s Wave Editor, with Ableton Live to follow.
