Melodyne manufacturer Celemony honored with Grammy
Last weekend in Los Angeles, Melodyne manufacturer Celemony became the first German software company ever to be honored by the Recording Academy with its Technical Grammy. The highest distinction in the music business, this is given in recognition of “contributions of outstanding technical significance to the recording field” and is equivalent to an Oscar in the film industry.
And The Technical Grammy goes to… Celemony!
Cause for great joy at Celemony: the Recording Academy has announced that the Munich software house (“Melodyne”) will be honored in February 2012 with the Technical Grammy. The Technical Grammy is one of the most important international awards and is awarded to individuals and companies who have made contributions of outstanding technical significance to the recording field.
Ultravox front man Midge Ure about Celemony Melodyne
Celemony published a video Interview with legendary singer Midge Ure. He talks about Ultravox, his work in the studio and which role Melodyne has in the process. Midge Ure is fascinated by DNA Direct Note Access and the possibility to edit individual notes in polyphonic audio: “This isn’t a piece of software, this is black magic!” His workflow today: “Now everything I do, I stick it into Melodyne and see if I can make it better“.

Celemony has a birthday to celebrate: the company was founded 10 years ago, and Melodyne has been with them for 10 years. 10 years in which the outstanding software has gone from an insider tip to one of the most highly valued audio tools around. Celemony is expressing its thanks with 10 of the legendary wooden boxes in which the first Melodyne was delivered. Each box contains a license for Melodyne editor, for Melodyne studio and for all Celemony software products released in the next 10 years. What that means is that everyone who gets a box will receive all the software products and updates released by Celemony until the year 2020 free of charge.

Today Celemony Software announced the release of version 3.2.2 of Melodyne studio and Melodyne cre8 as well as version 1.8.1 of Melodyne essential and Melodyne uno. The update is free of charge for all registered users.

Celemony today announced that their audio editing applications are now shipping in new versions: the multi-track Melodyne cre8 and studio in Version 3.2 and the single-track Melodyne essential and uno in Version 1.8.

Melodyne3 offers a new algorithm that allows any type of audio material to profit from Melodynes unique editing functions and sound quality. In other words, Melodyne is no longer limited to the editing of melodies but can handle homophonic and polyphonic textures.

As of now, the new version is available as a download. Celomony will begin shipping to dealers before Christmas. There will be a demo version available from the 23th December 2005 onwards.
