Skweee, the mutant funk. Ultra-minimal, bare bones and impossibly catchy. Northern Europe has long been center of this scene, but thanks to the output of Moиöcням and friends, the city of Portland might just be the new skweee hot spot.
Little Dragon came in for a session during Moogfest 2011. Sadly, their bass player fell ill during the festival and they were unable to perform their full set that evening. Luckily, their soundman filled in on bass parts with the Little Phatty for the Moog Sound Lab session and Moog got a gem of a performance.
Moog Music today announced the release of Phatty OS v.3.1, a major firmware upgrade to the very popular and portable Phatty family of analog synthesizers. It seems Moog had another new synth up their sleeve, but we all missed it as it was unveiled in august already. Ok, it is maybe not a new synth but still, visually it looks damn sweet (even if I say so myself!). Sadly this special edition Little Phatty (of which only 200 are made) is only available to our friends Down Under.
I got this from the MoogMusic twitter feed, and it looks like a Moog Little Phatty editor for the iPad, made by Ben Hovey.
Few synths fit the computer music world as well as the Little Phatty, and that fit just became even better with the release of the VST Little Phatty Editor. The VST Little Phatty Editor is available in Windows and Mac (Intel and non-Intel) versions and supports a wide variety of VST hosts.
The Little Phatty Editor Librarian is designed to be the ultimate tool for organizing and creating presets for both the Little Phatty Tribute and Stage Editions. Through a MIDI connection from the Little Phatty to a computer, this program can receive single presets or an entire bank of presets from the Little Phatty – as well as replace individual presets or an entire bank. Once the presets are transmitted to the LP Editor Librarian, all preset parameters can be displayed in a graphical user interface, including edit functions like Pot Mapping, Filter Poles and Arpeggiator settings.
Owners of the Moog Voyager and Little Phatty synths can now significantly upgrade their capabilities via free downloads from the Moog Music website.

The introduction of the Moog Little Phatty synth in March 2006 marked a new era in Moog’s history, bringing the features and functionality of its high-end analog instruments to a broader audience.
