TASCAM announced that Giga Virtual Instrument 4 (GVI 4) will be available for Intel-based Macs this year. Previously only available for Windows users, GVI is the only plug-in sampler instrument powered by the Giga sampling engine, and shares many of the specs that made GigaStudio the first choice for professionals worldwide. Other news from Tascam is that the new version of Gigastudio 4 supports 64-bit operating systems like XP64 and Windows Vista 64, allowing users to access up to 128 gigabytes of RAM for loading massive sample libraries and compositional templates. GigaStudio 4 also hosts VSTi and GVI virtual instruments, loading or stacking instruments alongside GigaStudio instrument libraries.

Ableton is excited to announce a range of new products that will be released before the end of 2007: Ableton Live 7, several new add-on instruments and Ableton Suite.

Audio Damage is on a roll, with recent new products like Dr. Device, Fluid and Liquid, they announced development of Vapor. It is sort of a New Thing. In their own words: “psychosomatic frongulator”. Quickly followed by a better description: “And what does it do? It has delay modulation, like a chorus, but it has diffusors, like a reverb. More or less. This is a semi-unstable network, and at extreme settings can make Intergalactic Robot Noises; it can also give a nice sheen to most any sound at more temperate settings, or knock the corners off pretty much anything.”

SampleMoog is a virtual instrument done in cooperation with Moog Music Inc. and Sonic Reality. SampleMoog has over 1,700 sounds from 16 rare, authentic synths spanning the entire Moog history, accurately sampled and programmed with the addition of built-in effects.
