After some confusion around the new Mbox interfaces from Avid, it is now safe for us to tell you that it all is true. Avid has released the Mbox 3, Mbox 3 Mini and not only that, there also will be a Mbox Pro. Something that wasn’t clear last week as only the other two versions leaked onto the internet.

Yamaha Has An App for That – StageMix is an application for the Apple iPad that allows remote control of M7CL mix functions via a simple, intuitive graphic interface from anywhere within wireless range. The application enables the engineer to set up monitor mixes from a performer‘s position on stage directly controlling mix parameters via the iPad. To run StageMix on an iPad, a wireless connection from the iPad to a WIFI access point and an Ethernet connection from the WIFI access point to M7CLv3 is required.
Relab Development from Denmark just released their first plugin. When creating the first entry for their own product line, Relab Development decided to create the most accurate emulation that could replace this legendary hardware reverb. The LX480 plugin ($199) goes far beyond emulation by using the exact same reverb technology and introducing higher density modes and functions not found on the original.

The EQs and Summing are arranged into a plug and play console format, ready to use, including a professional 192 point patchbay. Tonelux claims that the only option they don’t offer is “NO“.

As the internet was flooded with rumours on the arrival on a new Mbox from AVID last week, there were still no pictures to be found. But, … the pictures below just came in. Apparently AVID didn’t succeed in keeping them under wraps untill the official release. Like with the Mbox2 there will be two Mbox 3 versions. First the regular and a ‘lighter‘ Mbox 3 Mini version. We don’t have any new specifications for both versions. It is to be expected that there will be no Mbox Pro version. Rumours are that it will be replaced by a totally new product expected at Winter NAMM 2011.

In part one of our Pioneer DJM-2000 review we told you how much we loved this machine. For us it is the ‘missing link’ to the CDJ-2000.
