LegitMix – Monetize Works Made Using Copyrighted Music

Thanks to Phil Morse from DigitalDJTips we came across this new service called LegitMix. Legitmix is a simple-to-use browser-based software application. Artists use it to create Legitmix files for their works containing other people’s copyrighted source music. The Legitmix file contains no audio and can’t be played in any way. Fans use a Legitmix file, together with the Legitmix software, and their copies of the source music (in any digital format) to recreate an artist’s work on their computer. If a fan doesn’t already own the source music, the Legitmix music store provides an easy way to buy it. The recreated work is identical to the artist’s version and is automatically imported into a fan’s music library along with their purchased source music.

Upgrade to Lion – Yes or No?

As any Mac user probably knows by now, yesterday Apple have released Lion (Mac OS® X). Since yesterday we get a lot of questions if it is safe to upgrade to Lion, referring to the use with audio applications, plugins, audio interfaces, etc. To be honest we don’t know much more then you. What we do know, however, is that there are many comments on the internet and in the Twittershpere that people are having issues with the new OS X.

Release T-Pain from iZotope

The T-Pain Effect centers on The T-Pain Engine, a self-contained beat-making and vocal recording application for PC and Mac. Aspiring artists can get started immediately by selecting from over 50 professionally crafted song templates comprised of hundreds of T-Pain approved beats. With the backing track in place, users can then sing, rap, or speak on one or two vocal tracks to record a song with ease. Beats and song arrangements can be customized and vocals can be edited, including punch-in recording for retakes. For more vocal flavor, users can add The T-Pain Effect to the vocal tracks, tweaking the hardness and softness controls to dial in just the right sound. Then, after adjusting the levels of the final mix, the completed song can be exported and shared with friends or published directly to SoundCloud to share with the online world.
