Yes, another very cool post in our SFTW series. Especially for all you gearfreaks, vintage lovers, hardware bosses, a.k.a. ‘gearjunkies’. Turbo just started a video series which probably be a series that is fun to watch for all the demographic groups we mentioned before! Turbo (Recordings) blows the mysteries of high-end studio production wide open with the first installment of its new Studio Sessions video series, featuring Munich superproducer Zombie Nation.

Launchkey is a next generation instrument for computer and iPad with 16 velocity-sensitive multi-colour launch pads capable of playing drums and triggering loops in the brand new Launchpad iPad app, as well as launching clips and scenes in Ableton Live. It is a fully featured DAW control surface with over 50 physical controls (34 on the 25 key version). Launchkey also comes with two Novation plug-in soft synths: the V-Station and the Bass Station.

Vocal processing expert TC-Helicon and audio specialist Sennheiser today unveiled their partnership in the field of vocal effects microphones. Combining their extensive expertise in creating tools for vocalists and microphone technology, the two companies have been working on joint research projects since 2011, and will launch a joint product at NAMM in January 2013.

As of this week we (Gearjunkies.com and DJ2DJ.nl) are the official press partner for the DJ and producer convention Dancefair here in The Netherlands. On 16 and 17 february Dancefair will take place in the Jaarbeurs in Utrecht. Here the latest gear will showed for DJ’s and producers. Also there will be workshops and seminars by Dutch and International top DJs and producers who will share their knowledge about the job and the music industry with visitors of the fair. Big names like Kaiserdisco, Lucien Foort, Laidback Luke, and many more have already been confirmed and many others will follow shortly!

Well, our first Something For The Weekend post of the year. As you might have understood this isn’t a weekly recurring post, like our Sample Saturday. We only post something cool if we come across something we think would be nice to see or hear. However this week we came across the video below from a band called the Shout Out Louds. MIDI Turns 30 at the 2013 NAMM Show

30 years ago at the 1983 Winter National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) trade show, a Roland JX-3P talked to a Sequential Circuits Prophet 600 and Musical Instrument Digital Interface (MIDI) went mainstream. The MIDI Manufacturers Association (MMA) will kick off a yearlong “MIDI Makes Music” 30th Anniversary celebration at this year’s NAMM Show, with an exhibit showcasing the past, present and future of MIDI technology and an extensive traditional and social media presence showing how famous artists and musicians everywhere use MIDI to create and produce music.
