Pioneer DJM-900 Nexus – Another mixer, another leak

Pioneer DJM-900 Nexus – Another mixer, another leak

Officially we can expect the whole ‘shabang’ (product details and images) tomorrow (17th february) but today already an image leaked onto the internet. Like Pioneer mentioned this new mixer will bring the ProDJ Link and Rekordbox to a new level. Just to be clear, we assume that the picture below is of the new DJM-900NXS. However the origin of the picture is unknown so we can’t be 100% sure, but it sure looks like the mixer shown in the original teaser video by Pioneer.

Something for the Weekend: Modular Drum Module Synth.nl

Gearjunkies good friend Michel Osenbruggen, maybe better known as Synth.nl, is one of those person we can truly call a natural ‘Gearjunkie’. If you look at his pictures of his studio then you really know exactly why we call him that. If you are into analog vintage gear, you’ll probably think he is working in a ‘vintage gear heaven’. He has a large, extensive collection of synthesizers. From way (… way!) back to the modern classics! One of his latest projects was the built of a drum module based on the schematics from the ‘Electronic Drum Cookbook‘ by Thomas Henry. The video below shows us the results.

DJ Midi Controller Gearjunkies Comparison

DJ Midi Controller Gearjunkies Comparison

Playing with ‘gear’ is the average Gearjunkies ‘wet dream‘ (so to speak). As it happened we were able to get four top DJ Midi Controllers in the same room at the same time. As two of the Gearjunkies founders (Marc and Mark) have a strong DJ heritage we’d decided to throw a party to have some good ol’ DJ Fun! Plus at the same time, do a good comparison between the controllers that were available.

Turnlab interview – Aurex and Livid Instruments MIDI-controllers

The guys from Turnlab send us this cool video interview with Aurex. Aurex is a minimal techno, elektro artist from Belgium. His music is influenced by artists such as Stephan Bodzin, Oliver Huntemann, Paul Kalkbrenner, … but the aurex-sound is always there. Aurex performed live sets and dj sets at different festivals and clubs such as Forest Festival, Crammerock, Styletraveller XL, Eargasm and the Bootleg club in Rotterdam. When playing live, aurex is using hardware drumcomputers, samplers and synths. This leaves plenty of room for improvisation and interaction with the crowd so no aurex set sounds the same. Expect tight beats, dark sounds and a great vibe.

Native Instruments Maschine 1.6 public beta available

The public beta test for the upcoming Maschine 1.6 update has started. If you are a Maschine owner, you can download a fully functional 1.6 beta version, and submit eventual bug findings to the Maschine team over a special “bug tracker” web page. The public beta version has already been tested extensively by our internal testing team, but for general reasons it should still be used with caution in performance-critical environments.
