Cakewalk updates SONAR with 4.0.1. release

The SONAR 4.0.1 maintenance release provides a number of feature enhancements and updates which include Prosoniq’s MPEX3 superior time scaling algorithm, the update to MPEX2 which was not available in time for the initial SONAR 4 launch, and new Yamaha OPT Level 1 support extensions, allowing for bi-directional communication; OPT Editors now automatically read the state of gear via a Sysx bulk dump, improving the Motif and O1X user experience. The update also addresses a number of minor bugs discovered after SONAR 4 began shipping.

Tascam announces new FireWire interface

The new FW-1082 Audio/MIDI Interface and Control Surface from TASCAM not only provides tons of audio and MIDI I/O to small studios, but offers a control surface with moving-faders for a previously unheard-of price. The FW-1082 features 10 inputs, including four balanced XLR mic inputs with phantom power. Two MIDI inputs and outputs are also included, plus S/PDIF digital I/O. Eight channÂel strips each feature a 60mm touch-sensitive moving fader and select/solo/mute buttons, and a moving master fader is also provided. The FW-1082 includes the latest TASCAM software bundle: Cubasis LE 96kHz/48-track recording software, GigaStudio 3 LE streaming sampler and Nomad Factory plug-in demos.

Sony remixes Acid 5.0 Pro

After the release of the Acid 5.0 Musicstudio version, earlier this month, Sony announced today that ACID Pro 5 software, the latest upgrade to its award-winning, professional loop-based music creation tool, will be available for purchase on Nov. 8. 2004.


Enhancements include two new patent-pending technologies: The Media Manager is a powerful new technology for browsing and tagging media assets that greatly enhances the user’s ability to track, label and store media files including loops, video and stills.
